Pieces of Plastic and Silly Cartoons

When a child is playing with medical toys, a parent wouldn't say, look at the little doctor! Isn't that sweet but useless. It's just plastic toys that don't actually work. Hopefully someday they'll grow out of that nonsense and get a real life doing something useful and great, like being a plumber, so they can make money and help the world. It used to be that modern medicine didn't even exist. It was just witch doctors and quacks selling things that might actually kill you. But by sticking with it, medicine was matured and advanced until it became quite real and powerful. Now we can even see what is going on inside someone's microscopic blood cells. What if people had just laughed at the quakery and gave up on the whole thing? After all, many people were bled to death with leeches in the past. What joke, right? What good could ever become of medicine, that childish pursuit? So then we have another child, playing with GI Joes or something, saving mythical kingdoms or whatever, and we're like, isn't that cute for right now? So cute now, but hopefully they'll leave that childish nonsense behind and learn how to make money, money, money and give up on being honest and having a real spine so they can actually be a part of the real world. After all, those are just lumps of plastic and silly cartoons of fake characters doing those great things. That's not how the real world works and the sooner they snap out of wanting to be a hero or princess the better. After all, it's not like having imagination and being hopeful is just at an immature stage for the kid playing with batman legos, right? It's not something that could be developed and matured into a very real and effective thing, just like medicine could go from a plastic stethescope to MRI scans? But actually a lot of very legitimate spiritual truths are relegated to the discount bin of sappy christmas movies. Because they seem to simplistic and blatantly optimistic. We think, if you actually tried to have that simple a view of God and life, you will be ruined and act stupid and waste your life on nonsense. Well, perhaps if you haven't matured and developed the knowledge, then yes. MRI scans are very useful and real but you don't just put some random person off the street in charge of them. It's a great thing but it has to reach full maturity through education. And the education doesn't try to convince people that medicine and MRIs are just too good to be true so it's time to move on to other things. They stuck with it and kept trying until they got it right. Even so with deep spiritual things, they are not complex or frustrating but you do have to stick with them and keep trying and learning. Even things that once seemed impossible and too fantastic to be real in our mediocre world are legitimate but will only be known through searching them out and practicing, just like a child goes from giving imaginary tea to her teddy and now owns a string of five star restaurants. The journey is very possible and always worth it.
