The Unknowable One

Often we think we need clever ways to get attention for what we are saying.
Christians spend effort and struggle to get anyone to turn and look.
But the Spirit says,
All that effort can be spent - to turn and give attention to what the Spirit of the Living God has to say.
We can't control people and force them to hear things,
But we can direct our own focus and what we are looking out for.
As we learn to hear better from him, that is what will cause others to also hear him - through us!
Only the Living Spirit can even try to reach the heart.
Only as we draw closer to him, others will be drawn closer also.
Some movements in the past, even the Jesus people,
all began in such a surprising unheard of way
- the reason it didn't continue and grow
but became somewhat cheap and a cliche over time to some
...is that it did not continue in the same, simple way it began.
Just by hearing what only I could ever say,
seeing what only I could ever do.
The desperately lost and confused, who seemed pointless to even bother with,
were swept into realization and forgiveness,
but not by anyone's wisdom or skill.
But by the Unknowable One,
the Unreachable King,
the Most High.
Sadly, we thought we could continue his work by our own frantic struggle and noise.
Unless a ministry, a life, even a day
Are lived from knowing
how wonderful it is
- that I can be heard!
- that I can be leaned on!
- that I am so much!
It becomes a hollow echo and does little.
