You can have a lot of smoke without making a fire, but it's 100% impossible to have a real fire without getting the smoke too. Anyone who makes a fire in their fireplace knows that, and always open that chimney to make sure the smoke can get out before lighting the little newspaper bits and throwing in some logs, or else that smoke is going all over the house and probably setting off a few sprinklers and causing havoc. No one would ever say, well we're going to start a nice fire in our fireplace today on this freezing Christmas Eve, but don't bother opening any windows because this time we're making a new fire we bought at Kmart that doesn't have any smoke. It's really neat, and it was on sale!

There's no such thing as a fire without smoke boiling up from it, never stopping.

However, if a movie department needs to film a nice XMAS scene and they don't want the expense and hassle of a real cozy fire for the actors to pretend to look at, they'll just get a fog machine or something. Heck, they can get five fog machines if they need it, because movie budgets are in the millions. They could have smoke pouring out of that chimney like someone just set the christmas tree on fire with a badly placed candle that the cat knocked over. But that smoke is just water fog, and very damp. And the director can just say, "Okay that's enough," and poof they flip a switch and all of the gallons of billowing smoke stops on a dime.

However, if the production team accidentally starts a real fire in the fireplace, then there's no flipping a switch to get rid of that smoke. In fact, they'd better get the actors out the fake door before they cough and cough and hurt their stage voice. And the safety crew had better grab that fire hose and start flooding, because the fire is probably moving onto the fake couch by now, and the floods of black, thick smoke hasn't stopped for a single moment.

"Have minds that are sober and ready for action!"

This doesn't mean however, that you have to be contantly acting. It just says, be ready for action, so that you can soberly move when the need appears. This is totally differnt from just doing things and always acting. This is a solid attitude and state of being, where the embers within are always burning and focused, but the surface of life may be cold and seemingly with not much happening.

You can have people that do more and more and more without having a real honesty and caring about it inside.

But I have never, not once, seen someone who has the sober attitude and readiness to act inside, who then slept through everything and didn't undersand what was going. WHatever is insde IS going to come out eventually, and "good people bring out of their heart the overflowing storehouses of good things they have piled up in there already."

If someone puts out a lot of smoke, you don't know if they've got any fire at all.

But if someone has truly stoked and watched over the fire within, then smoke will be coming out of every window before long, no matter what happens or what anyone says or whatever tries to keep it locked up, because they simply can't help it. They are overflowing with what has been stored up and piled up within, like a child who keeps cleaning their room by stuffing things in that side closet until tennis shoes and basketballs literally come falling out at last because there's just too much.

You can have a lot of smoke without making a fire, but it's 100% impossible to have a real fire without getting the smoke too.
